Compost Certification for the Entire Nordic Paper Greaseproof Range

So clean you could leave it in nature. That’s how Nordic Paper’s greaseproof paper can be described – a fact now confirmed by a compost certification covering the entire product line.

“Of course, we don’t encourage littering – but in practice, you can trust that nature will break down our paper without any problems,” says Aleksander Andersen, Technical Support.

The compost certificate was issued by the independent organisation TÜV, after thorough testing and examination.

“They have received extensive data and samples from us. We’ve sent everything from pulp and chemicals to finished paper samples to one of TÜV’s accredited laboratories,” Aleksander explains.

The process has taken several years, partly because composting tests require time. For example, an entire year is spent ensuring the paper breaks down properly in a natural home compost.

After rigorous testing and strict performance criteria, Nordic Paper can now proudly state that all of their greaseproof qualities – such as baking papers and others – are officially certified for composting.

“Naturally, this feels great. This is a clear proof of how pure our paper truly is, and that we never add any toxic chemicals, such as PFAS, in our production,” Aleksander concludes.
