Life cycle analysis

Nordic Paper strives to continuously improve both our operations and products, and we aim to base our sustainability claims on reliable and independent analyses. Life cycle analysis is one of several tools we use to assess and systematically evaluate a product’s environmental impact throughout its entire life cycle – from raw material extraction to waste management.

What does it mean?

  • A life cycle analysis (LCA) is a method for evaluating the environmental impacts of a product, process or service across its entire life cycle.

How does it work?

  • LCAs are conducted in collaboration with international consulting firms and research institutes, in accordance with the criterias in ISO 14 040 and ISO 14 044. The process consists of several steps, from data collection and analysis to final evaluation.
  • Once the LCA is completed, it is also reviewed by an independent third party to verify that the analysis has been carried out accurately and reliably.
